The Child Crisis Center of El Paso has been protecting children in El Paso, West Texas and Southern New Mexico from child abuse and neglect since 1980 by providing Emergency Shelter Services, Family Education Programs and Family Support. The Emergency Shelter provides safe residential services for children ages newborn through 13 who have been abused and neglected, are at-risk of child abuse and neglect or who are in crisis. 68% of all children served are admitted due to an open Child Protective Services (CPS) investigation. The CCCEP proudly serves military families and children from Ft. Bliss and over 20% of all children admitted to the shelter are military and veteran dependents. The CCCEP delivers the STEP Parenting Education curriculum to help parents improve their parenting skills and the Teen Talk/Teens Thinking Smart program educates teen parents to deliver the curriculum to their peers in El Paso middle and high schools and other organizations that serve teens. The CCCEP’s Case Management Program provides counseling and referral support to give families the resources necessary to preserve the family and keep children in their homes.
